The Making of Tiramisu

Bismillah.

Salam.

A few weeks ago, my friend, Aimi Nadzirah invited me to her house since we were in a long holiday, just to fill one of our free days. Her house is just 1km away from mine, so I accepted the invitation. The original plan for the day was to bake moist chocolate cake, but then we went to the shop that sold baking materials and bought the ingredients to make Tiramisu cake, and so, we made Tiramisu. Aimi's cousin, Haziqah joined in too. In the end, the moist chocolate cake was made by Aimi alone and the Tiramisu was done by the three of us.

To make it was quite simple actually, we can even do that alone, but that time, we did it together because we have no mixer so we mix the mixtures manually by our own hands (we took turns to mix them).

We used the recipe that was provided on the Forno Bonomi Ladyfinger's packaging.

The recipe on the packaging

Ingredients:

  1. 400g "Forno Bonomi" Ladyfingers
  2. 500g Mascarpone cheese
  3. 300ml Strong warm coffee
  4. 120g Sugar
  5. 4 Eggs (set apart egg yolks and egg whites)

  6. Bitter cocoa powder (for dusting)

The making of it:

  • Add sugar to egg yolks and beat them till pale and thick. Then, add mascarpone cheese and mix them until stiff. (sampai jadi macam cream-cream gitu)
  • On another bowl, add a pinch of salt to egg whites and beat them until soft peaks formed. (jadi macam foam nanti)
  • Kinda like this. Tapi ni belum jadi lagi. Nanti dia jadi lagi buih-buih-like.
  • Then, mix the foam and the mascarpone cream together gently.
  • Prepare warm coffee. Pour it in a shallow dish so that it's easier to dip the ladyfingers.
  • Dip the ladyfingers one by one into the coffee and arrange them in a serving dish. Cover them with a layer of the mixture of mascarpone cream.
  • Kinda like this. Huaha. Ignore how it looks. It tastes good.
  • On the mascarpone cream, again, arrange the ladyfingers and cover them with the cream again, and do those again and again till you are out of ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.
  • Dust the top with cocoa powder.
  • and finally, refrigerate for about 4 hours.
  • After 4 hours, you can enjoy it! :))

-------------------------------------------------------------------

There you go. Quite easy isn't it?

I have tried making it again by myself at home, with some help from my sister, Safiah. and for the dusting, I used Milo since we don't have cocoa powder at home. but it still tastes good.

My second try of making Tiramisu. OKla.. My parents and siblings said it was good.
Safiah tak sempat rasa sebab dia pergi balik UIA awal.
Athirah dapat rasa sebab petang tu aku pergi lawat dia dekat hospital.
If you're wondering how to eat it, we actually slice them just like slicing a cake. The ladyfingers biscuits are actually soften after being dipped in the warm coffee. After being sliced, it'll look somewhat like this.

Alright, that's all for now.
Wassalam.

Potential

Bismillah.
Assalamualaikum :)

an Arabic quote.

"If you did not add (contribute) something to the world, then you are an excess of the world."

That is what the quote in the above picture means.
Allah has blessed each of His creations with specialities and potentials. Even you, who is reading this has a lot of it. One of it is that, you can see. Another is, you can read. Alhamdulillah.

Some people has been blessed with the potential to write beautifully, sing beautifully, draw beautifully, photograph beautifully, photoshop amazingly, think critically, do parkour, cook deliciously, etc.. Now let's look into ourselves. What kind of potential do we have?

If you look deeper and try a lot of things, insya-Allah you will find your potential.

I just found out my new potential two days ago and that is; 'drumming' using kompang. koh koh koh. I discovered it while I was gathering with a few of my seniors and friend from school. While they were singing, I was just trying beating the 'kompang' and suddenly one of my senior said that I have the skill. But of course I'll have to practise more to sharpen it laa.

Ehem. Therefore, when you try doing different activities, you will find out more of yourself that you don't know.

Then, after you have found out your specialities, potentials and skills, think of the ways to use them beneficially, so that maybe you yourself will get the benefits, or others living in this world will get the benefits.

E.g: You can plant trees. So, plant trees so that you and everyone around you will get more O2.

If we did not use the potentials we have, insya-Allah they will be wasted and therefore we will just be a waste that did not do anything in this world. Baik tak yah hidup kalau gitu. Astaghfirullah. Nauzubillah.

Allah s.w.t has stated in His Quran:
وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَہُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
"We did not create the heavens and the earth and what lies between them for play"
[ Al - Anbiya', 21 : 16 ]

Allah did not create us for play. Bukan main-main. There must be a reason why Allah has created us, and even giving us our potentials.

Therefore, let us discover our potentials and make use of them! :))

Wassalam.

Life and death

Bismillah.

7th of May 2012, Monday. Fly-over atas highway Pasir Gudang.
Taken on my way to school, to pick up my sisters.
I had never thought that Allah would take my senior from this world in the next few hours.

Life is short.
We all know that. Everyone does too.
But do we really believe in it?
Do we realize it?

Sometimes, only when Allah gives us reminder that we will realize. Tough reminder.
Happens to me so many times.

"This life of the world is but a pastime and a game. Lo! the home of the Hereafter - that is Life, if they but knew."
[ Al-Ankabut, 29 : 64 ]

Allah has given me reminders through the Al-Qur'an. But I guess I don't comprehend much of the aayaat that he took a few people from this world to make me reaaally realize.
Oh Allah, please don't take this realization away from me. And may this realization will also touch others' hearts too... Aamiin.

A song originally from LOST OST, entitled Life and Death. I like it.

Al-Fatihah to my senior, Almarhumah Nurul Hafizah Mohd Faizul Aris, who is also my sister (Safiah)'s close friend. She passed away last Monday. May Allah bless her. Allah loves her. And may Allah give strength to her whole family and friends to face this. [news from school's web]

May Allah bless us and guide us to the right path always. Aamiin..

Journey in Pre-TESL: Officially Ends. Credits rolling.

Bismillah.

Salam.
I have been wanting to update about this since a long long time ago. Since our final exam result came out actually, last 27th of April.

Alhamdulillah, my result was quite ok la. Although my GPA for this semester was a bit lower than the previous one, but when I see the CGPA, it is still ok. My 1st sem's GPA backs up a lot. hoho.

1st sem: 3.67 | 2nd sem: 3.54 | CGPA Foundation: 3.60

Still, alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal :)
Now, my journey in Pre-TESL has officially ended. After this, I won't have to log on to the istudent portal anymore. I thank UiTM so much for accepting me as their Foundation student. I can still remember my interviewers' faces, you know. Their expressions while interviewing me. Hoho. Ok, forget about that.

I thank Allah so much for giving me the opportunity to have this journey, in the course I have chosen to take. I have lots of new experiences and made lots of great friends.

1st Semester.

2nd Semester

The pictures describe it all. sikit. hak hak.

Anyway, let's go to the credits :)

Since this entry will be super long, I'll put jump break (the read more thingy)..
