25 going on 26

Akram and I at the beginning of 2019

One of the dilemmas of the end-of-year borns is stating their current age. Should I put my age according to the current year or according to my birthdate? Haha. Hence, the title. That's my age for 2019.

Before I got married, I usually join the around-the-same-age group. However, things changed last year. I started participated in conference, so I met people of various age, mostly older than I am. I also joined fb groups for mothers and being married early, naturally, I met many new older people. I also started to be interested in listening to stories of people with more life experience. It's just... interesting.

Early this year & month, there's this 10-year challenge and it made me go back to my 2009 memories. I was 16. So young and naive, enjoying my life with friends while trying hard to hide my feeling from my crush, tried many new things, doing my best in all activities I participated. I could say form 4 was my gloriest year during my secondary life.

How about in 2019?

Well, it has just begun, and I think I'm getting positive feelings this year. I know I will be tested more, but I have a feeling I can handle it much better than before.

I must say that this positive vibe is gained through my encounters with positive older and wiser people, and my husband (boy, my husband has matured a lot since 10 years ago!). Their determination had given me strength to not give up easily and always do my best in any given situation.

The 10-year challenge reminded me of the cheerful, adventurous, enthusiastic and active girl I was. And I'm aiming to be that kind of woman this year onwards. Rise after fall.  Keep rising. Keep going. Keep moving.

Things will be alright.
Because Allah is always with me :)
What matters is that I do my part well to achieve my dreams.

Anywaysss, my life progress:
  • still pursuing master's. Still praying for the best result. It was quite a challenge to study with a baby, but I'm very grateful I can finish my project report & pass statistics subject! Both were truly challenging.
  •  still loving every day being with my baby, Akram. He can now stands up while holding on to things or people. He's also making more sounds. Current favourite book: Freddie the Fire Engine.
  • still learning and improving to be a better wife. Still getting to know my husband. Still in love.
  • oh yes, since I kinda have a free time right now, I'm starting to tidying up our room. Adopting konmari method anywhere it fits.
  •  still doing proofreading and taking a bit translating (malay to english). Gotta finish them early.
  • still learning and improving to be a better daughter for my parents...
  •  has started to apply for jobs. Hoping for the best!

Ok. Daz all. InsyaAllah I'll make 2019 a meaningful year for myself. This year, I will be more respobsible towards myself, so I can take care of others well too.

Alhamdulillah for everything that has happened in the past.
Alhamdulillah for all the blessings.
May Allah guide us to the right path, always.

Imperfect

That's life
Even after we have gone through a lot, it won't ever be perfect.

We'll have our flaws
We'll discover others' flaws.
But that's just how we are.

What is our choice then?
Just live with them.

Hope for the better, but never expect.
Try our best and never expect.

The moment we expect too much, we'll be disappointed.

We don't know what Allah knows.

Time passes. Life changes.
Things won't ever be the same anymore.

Aliya,
You're not as good anymore.
Your ability changes. Your skills changes. Your thought changes. Your life changes.

Maybe worse, maybe better, I don't know.

What we can do know, is to just keep living, by looking at the bright side in everything.

Time passes,
and this, too, shall pass.

Always believe,
that the best is yet to come.

:)

Dedicated to myself luls.

Blessings in Disguise

Salam and hi.

Brief life update: I've graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in TESL. Alhamdulillah, with Allah's will, i made it through all 8 semesters including the terrifying FYP (it's only terrifying because I did it in the last minute). So now, after having 2 months of break, I'm studying again. Currently pursuing Masters in TESL in the same uni.

Huh I gotta make this quick because I hve usrah after this.

Ok here goes.

These few weeks since last month, a lot of things had been happening, and some things are still happening right now. I was so stressed, I felt so suffocated, I felt like I want to give up and quit everything.

I talked with a few people about my problems and what I felt, but it doesn't help much because it's my problem and I still need to solve it myself.

So this week, i found the proverb "blessings in disguise" while doing last minute tutoring for my SPM student. Then it hits me that all of these are blessings in disguise.

Allah is testing me. He's teaching me to be stronger, to be more positive. This is tarbiyyah. If I can't handle these things now, how can I handle bigger issues in the future? Adui.

So I prayed more, read Qur'an more but it still feels like all of these are a lot to take in... But i kept the prayers and quran reading going because it's my bekalan.. (oh, i also read other books to help myself, like Bekalan di Sepanjang Jalan Dakwah perghh serius best)

And finally, today..
I prayed zuhr in the utm mosque (MSI). I tried my best to focus on Allah and only Him. After the prayers, i felt like doing more sunnat prayers. And so I did. With a big hope that I could be a better being, a better muslimah, a better daughter, a better student, everything. Feeling so little and helpless in front of him.

After I was done, I got up and step out of the mosque, while praying in the heart that Allah would enlighten me with my studies today. I have 2 discussions to go to.

As I walked towards the library, I saw a lady walking and she's smiling at me. I didn't know her, but it made me happy. I smiled back at her and thought this is Allah's way to make me happy.

But then i thought naaah, who am I to deserve that from Him. It's not unusual to have a stranger to smile at you.

Then another lady walked by, and she too, was smiling at me. Wow, this is rare. Two strangers smiling at me when we were walking. This is really Allah's way of making me happy.

Thank you Allah. Kesian sgt kot aku nangis tadi. Haha.

Then I went for the discussions. One after another. And Alhamdulillah, things went well. I felt enlightened on what to do. Things felt better. I don't feel lost anymore.

Now I feel I can carry on. One thing had been handled. I just need to handle the rest with my best too while keep praying to Allah.

Things are still hard,
But it felt better.

Alhamdulillah. Thank you Allah.

Oh, throughout these past months, there are also several things that made me happy and delighted. I should write about them kan. To reflect on the blessings not in disguise that Allah has given. Hehe. And to make me feel more grateful :)

But maybe later. Gotta rush now. Till then.

Lesson Learnt from 2015

Bismillah.

Salam.

On New Year's eve, we had our last usrah for 2015. The usrah which was supposed to take place on Monday was postponed to Thursday because we had exam. (Oh, my next paper is tomorrow, by the way). That night, we didn't discuss on bahan usrah, but we did qadaya - a discussion and sharing session to reflect on ourselves; personal self, study, our involvement in tarbiyah & da'wah, etc.

Then, my murabbiah stated something about readiness
that has made me realized a thing.

That I was always in denial.
I did not prepare myself to face what I had to face.
I did not prepare myself to do what I had to do.

Thus the slow progression and low motivation.

Well, it's a good thing there's a progress though.

At the end of the usrah, I reflected a lot on what I have experienced throughout the whole 2015. From January to December.

In just one year, I have experienced a lot of things, met many people and took many responsibilities.

Yup, responsibilities.

But I was in denial. I did not accept them, but I took them.
In which I now realized, it was wrong.

I knew 'La yukallifullahu nafsan illa wus'aha'
but I didn't really live the ayat.

Therefore, from now on, I should change.

Dear Aliya,
Learn to accept what is given to you. Learn to accept the choices you have made. Learn to accept, and take action.

In accepting, preparation is needed.
Mind setting is crucial.
With sufficient preparation and appropriate mind setting, insya-Allah, you can carry out anything properly.

Being in denial, saying "I'm not that kind of person" "I can never be a good ____" will only limit your chances to grow.
Now you have become that kind of person. You have been chosen to do ____. So take action!

Accept your roles, realize that now you have roles to fulfill - old ones and new ones.
and live.

Huhu.

Changing ain't easy.
Accepting ain't easy.

But insya-Allah, if try our best, Allah will help us.

Alhamdulillah for the realization that night.
Alhamdulillah for the enlightment.

I denied many things in 2015.
I hope I can be ready and accept good things in 2016.

May the days to come bring better experience to shape us to be a better humanbeing,
which have two main roles to fulfill - as His 'abd and as caliph
and other additional minor roles as well.

May Allah be with us all the time, to light our ways and show us the right path.
May our hearts always be humble, towards Allah and towards His creations.

Wassalam :)

Momentum Ramadhan

Salam.

Muslim Juga Ada Momentum

Ramadhan: Bulan Optimum Membina Taqwa

Dari Ibnu Mas'ud r.a. bahwasanya Nabi s.a.w. bersabda:

Selamat menjalani hari-hari terakhir Ramadhan. Selamat memburu lailatul qadr.

21 years, alhamdulillah

Just posting another note to remind myself that I'm already 21.

and so far,

Alhamdulillah...

I really appreciate the experiences I've gone through
and the presence of the people around me.

I can't say they're all perfect,
but I think,
what has happened, how people are with me and everything,

is just perfect for me.

or rather, I'd say they suit me better.

Because this life is a journey and the experiences are tarbiyyah,
in which the tarbiyyah I have is especially made for me,

so that I'd develop as an individual,
who'd fulfill the terms & conditions to enter His jannah.

one fine day,
insyaAllah.

amiin.

have strength, have faith.
because Allah is always here.

like, forever.

Ikhlas

Salam.

Ikhlas.

Bagaimana nak istiqamah?
Ikhlas.

Bincang lagi tentang pengalaman belajar, beraktiviti.
Macam mana boleh kekal semangat?
Ikhlas.

Makes me think.
Selama ni aku ikhlas ke?
Pernah ke aku betul-betul ikhlas?
Semoga keikhlasan itu ada lah...

Semoga keikhlasan itu sentiasa bersama kita :)

because Jannah is ahead.

The way he did it

Salam.

Although it's the exam week, since I have 4 days of gap before my next paper, I'm staying home. But the next paper is on the day after tomorrow. hoho.

Yesterday, I watched the TV while eating. 'Fattabiouni' was airing. It's a very short clip showing Rasulullah (pbuh)'s sunnah. Fattabiouni is usually played during the gap between two shows. So, yesterday's episode was about the way Rasulullah (pbuh) puts on his ring.

Sekadar hiasan

There's this one part that caught my eyes.

One day, Rasulullah (pbuh) was sitting with his friends, the sahabah. While they were having conversation, the prophet was moving his ring and staring at it. Suddenly, the prophet removed the ring from his finger and kept it. The sahabah were curious, why would the prophet do that? Then, they learned that Rasulullah (pbuh) did that because he did not want to be rude to the people in front of him. (1) because he possessed a ring. (2) because he might give more attention to the ring more than his friends.

Subhanallah, how courteous was our prophet (pbuh).

Let's take that scenario into today's. Replace the ring with mobile phone.
Nowadays, most of us have mobile phones. What do we do while we're with other people? Talk to them? Concentrate on the phone?
While facing others, we shouldn't ignore them. Even Rasulullah (pbuh) kept the things that could distract him while talking to others.

Let's do the same. Rasulullah (pbuh) once said, "fattabiouni". So let's follow him :)

Salam.

Against your own self

Bismillah.

Salam :)

it's already a new Hijriah year. May this year be better than the previous years, insya-Allah.

A few months ago, I watched a Korean drama entitled 'Gu Family Book'. The main character in the drama is  Kangchi, a guy with a mixed blood: half wolf and half human. Haha ok yes, the drama is a bit merepek, illogical, fantasy, etc but that's not the point. There's a lesson that I really like in this drama.

Because Kangchi is half-human he couldn't balance his wolf and human part (in the earlier episodes). Sometimes he would hurt people without realizing it because the wolf part had overtaken him. However, after he become human again, he would regret it and be very sad. That's why he insisted on being human. Finally, after being tested and with the support from the people around him, he could control his power. His wolf part won't take over him again. He'll only become wolf to get stronger in a fight. He could finally balance being human and wolf.

At that point, I realized something. The life of Kangchi is actually related to us, humans, except that we don't have the wolf part. To Kangchi, the wolf is the bad side of him and human is the good side of him.  Us normal human too have a good side and dark side. We have both sides, but we ourselves choose to be which one. Be good or be evil? hmm. hmm.

The choice is up to us. The battle to be good, is the battle against our own self. Good vs Bad. Which one is stronger in us? The stronger one is the one that will be visible to others.

How do you get your 'good' side stronger?
I think that depends on our iman, because a believer (who believe in Allah, His prophets, His promises, the afterlife) would try as much as he/she could to be good.

Hence, let us try to get our good side stronger. heheh. Mujahadah li nafs. Fight against your own self. Master yourself.

That's all. Salam.

I am here and they are there

The sun almost set

Sometimes I feel guilty for having so much fun and care less about my brothers and sisters on the other side of the world.
while I'm laughing here, they're probably crying there.
while I have enough sleep, they stay up to protect their people.
I wonder if I ever deserved to be called as their 'sister'.

I know it's never wrong to have fun, because it's one of the ni'mat.
But I'm afraid I'll be too carried away and swayed by the happiness.

Alhamdulillah for this guilt, I try to be moderate in having fun and being happy.
I have to remember Allah always to lessen the guilt, and keep praying for the muslims.
and be active in fulfilling my 'duty'.
That's what I can do for now.

Only Muslims can destroy Muslims.
and only Muslims can help Muslims.

Which kind of Muslim will you be?

Let's keep praying for Egypt, Syria, Palestine and other Muslims in all over the world.

Of living in the virtual world

I remember once, my lecturer during my foundation year had said:

"If you watched some channel on youtube, and noticed that the person didn't update their vlog much, or hasn't uploaded new videos for quite some time, let him be. he's living a good life in the real world.

which means, you, have to live your life in the real world too.
maybe you're wasting too much time on the virtual world, don't you think?"

She just hit the nail on the head.

"(I swear) by the Time, (1) Man is in a state of loss indeed, (2) Except those who believed and did righteous deeds, and exhorted each other to follow truth, and exhorted each other to observe patience. (3)"
[Al-Asr, 103 : 1-3]

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

A poem by Rudyard Kipling.
A wise advice.

Whatever you do, whatever happens, be wise :)

Sort things out

Bismillah.

Have you ever felt that you were thinking too much, or thinking of so many things at a time, and you're confused of which one to focus on first?

I have.

Now that's when we reaaally have to remain calm, and calmly, sort things out.
Insya-Allah, after you organize your thoughts, it'll be easier to focus on the main thing.
You'll know which to focus first. You'll know your priority.
Try to get rid of lagha things.

Sorting things out. Photo source.

Remain calm. Be cool. Be organized.

Benda kecil, biarkan kecil. Fokus pada yang utama. Tekadkan azam.

Allah kan ada.

:D

Astaghfirullah al-adzim.
Walhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal.

Of expectation towards people

Bismillah.

Sometimes we forgot that people are humans and they can't be perfect. So, don't expect them to perfectly suit our expectation.

Dear everyone in this planet including me,
please accept people as they are.

Because we want others to accept us as we are too.

kalau tak, forever alone lah macam Danbo The Boxman ni. Takde orang nak kawan. Orang amik gambar candid je.

but, don't use this 'everybody makes mistakes' phrase as an excuse for ourselves to not be better.

Rasulullah (pbuh) said: "Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent."
- Narrated by Al-Tirmizi

Potential

Bismillah.
Assalamualaikum :)

an Arabic quote.

"If you did not add (contribute) something to the world, then you are an excess of the world."

That is what the quote in the above picture means.
Allah has blessed each of His creations with specialities and potentials. Even you, who is reading this has a lot of it. One of it is that, you can see. Another is, you can read. Alhamdulillah.

Some people has been blessed with the potential to write beautifully, sing beautifully, draw beautifully, photograph beautifully, photoshop amazingly, think critically, do parkour, cook deliciously, etc.. Now let's look into ourselves. What kind of potential do we have?

If you look deeper and try a lot of things, insya-Allah you will find your potential.

I just found out my new potential two days ago and that is; 'drumming' using kompang. koh koh koh. I discovered it while I was gathering with a few of my seniors and friend from school. While they were singing, I was just trying beating the 'kompang' and suddenly one of my senior said that I have the skill. But of course I'll have to practise more to sharpen it laa.

Ehem. Therefore, when you try doing different activities, you will find out more of yourself that you don't know.

Then, after you have found out your specialities, potentials and skills, think of the ways to use them beneficially, so that maybe you yourself will get the benefits, or others living in this world will get the benefits.

E.g: You can plant trees. So, plant trees so that you and everyone around you will get more O2.

If we did not use the potentials we have, insya-Allah they will be wasted and therefore we will just be a waste that did not do anything in this world. Baik tak yah hidup kalau gitu. Astaghfirullah. Nauzubillah.

Allah s.w.t has stated in His Quran:
"We did not create the heavens and the earth and what lies between them for play"
[ Al - Anbiya', 21 : 16 ]

Allah did not create us for play. Bukan main-main. There must be a reason why Allah has created us, and even giving us our potentials.

Therefore, let us discover our potentials and make use of them! :))

Wassalam.

Life and death

Bismillah.

7th of May 2012, Monday. Fly-over atas highway Pasir Gudang.
Taken on my way to school, to pick up my sisters.
I had never thought that Allah would take my senior from this world in the next few hours.

Life is short.
We all know that. Everyone does too.
But do we really believe in it?
Do we realize it?

Sometimes, only when Allah gives us reminder that we will realize. Tough reminder.
Happens to me so many times.

"This life of the world is but a pastime and a game. Lo! the home of the Hereafter - that is Life, if they but knew."
[ Al-Ankabut, 29 : 64 ]

Allah has given me reminders through the Al-Qur'an. But I guess I don't comprehend much of the aayaat that he took a few people from this world to make me reaaally realize.
Oh Allah, please don't take this realization away from me. And may this realization will also touch others' hearts too... Aamiin.

A song originally from LOST OST, entitled Life and Death. I like it.

Al-Fatihah to my senior, Almarhumah Nurul Hafizah Mohd Faizul Aris, who is also my sister (Safiah)'s close friend. She passed away last Monday. May Allah bless her. Allah loves her. And may Allah give strength to her whole family and friends to face this. [news from school's web]

May Allah bless us and guide us to the right path always. Aamiin..

Wassalam..

Strive and struggle

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim..

As for those who strive in Us, We surely guide them to Our paths, and lo! Allah is with the good. (69)

[ Al-Ankabut, 29: 69]

So don't worry. Because Allah is with you :)

Mistakes

Sometimes, we have to do some mistakes to learn from them.
However, we have to try our best not to do the same mistakes anymore.
because, a true mu'min will not fall into the same hole twice.

Therefore,
make mistake once --> learn from it --> be aware of it, try not to repeat it.

:)

P/S: Just random thoughts for today.
