Momentum Ramadhan

Salam.

Muslim Juga Ada Momentum

Ramadhan: Bulan Optimum Membina Taqwa

Dari Ibnu Mas'ud r.a. bahwasanya Nabi s.a.w. bersabda:

Selamat menjalani hari-hari terakhir Ramadhan. Selamat memburu lailatul qadr.

Ramadhan is around the corner

Salam.

I have gone through Ramadhan for, um, a lot of times.

As I grow up and starts to think a lot, sometimes, during Ramadhan, I couldn't really feel the heat. Like, for example, sometimes I would become lazy to read more pages of Qur'an. astaghfirullah. or I would still be enjoying some lagha things *cough* especially during "some" season.

Credit: HDwpapers

When I look back into my previous Ramadhan, I think the most memorable Ramadhan I had was when I was in form 2 in 2007. Since then, my other Ramadhans couldn't beat that 2007 Ramadhan yet. That Ramadhan was memorable because I could finish the whole 30 juz of the Qur'an, I made reflections a lot and I could do qiamullail a lot. (eh yeke? bolela). Then, there was one night where I woke up and felt very calm, and I could do qiamullail very khusyu'-ly. That was one of the best qiamullail I had ever had.

Then, the next year came, and I kinda expected that I would have the same kind of feeling during the next Ramadhan.

one Ramadhan passed.

another Ramadhan passed.

and another. and another.

and I still missed the 2007 Ramadhan.
(omg that's 7 years ago omg I can't believe how old I am omg time flies so fast)

It made me ponder a lot.

What has made my Ramadhan less special?
Well, yeah, one of the factors could be because of the sins (astaghfirullah).
but there should be something more.

I don't know how, but suddenly this year, it hits me that:
I couldn't really feel the excitement of Ramadhan,
because I didn't make the preparation in the first place!

I had prepared the mind set that Ramadhan was coming, but I made no preparation.
I didn't do practice, like, fasting weekly (sunnah), reading more pages of the Quran, and try harder to do more qiamullail. My daily ibadah was still the same.

Right on 1 Ramadhan, only then I started to read more Quran (from 4 pages daily to 1 juz daily), fast 1 month (maybe) straight and do lots and lots of prayers (plus the tarawih)! That was a vigorous exercise without a warm up. No wonder I felt tired. I felt less joyous. astaghfirullah.
Then, during the last 10 days, I started to regret that my amal hadn't satisfy me. Then Ramadhan passed and I felt less happy.

This suddenly hits me early this month, when Rejab was coming.
Why hadn't I realize this earlier?! *dush*
Now, Rejab is leaving, and Syaaban is coming. Next, it would be Ramadhan!

Hence, I reaaaaaaally hope that I would have the chance to experience Ramadhan again.
To make the best out of this Ramadhan.

and I'm trying to make the best preparation, by:
- reading the Quran more (at least half of juz daily, well, closer to 1 juz daily)
- fasting weekly
- do more qiamullail!
- and familiarize myself with more sunnahs
so that during Ramadhan, I can practice all those more khusyu'-ly.

of course, I need to have lots and lots of input so that my heart will always be pure. A pure heart is the key to have a good connection with Allah. hehe. insya-Allah.

Why should we make the best out of Ramadhan?
because it's the month Allah has prepared for us to build ourselves and to strengthen ourselves.
a month of tarbiyyah.
to prepare us to face the tests in the following 11 months successfully,
before meeting Ramadhan again.
that is, if Allah still gives us the chance.

So yeah,
let's prepare ourselves for Ramadhan!

You'll never feel the excitement, if you didn't do the preparation.

*and suddenly it hits me that the same logic applies to death. You'll never be excited to die to meet Allah, if you haven't done enough preparation. gulp.
*the same logic applies to exam. You'll never be excited to sit for an exam if you know you haven't studied. You'll feel brighter if you know you've studied!
*the same logic applies to presentation. You'll never be excited to do presentation if you haven't prepared a thing.
*k i should stop.

Allahumma ballighna Ramadhan..

wassalam.

P/S: is khusyu'-ly even a term? I'm sorry if I've ever destroyed the arabic word by merging English grammar into it, dear linguists.
P/P/S: Final exam is next week! Dear readers (if any), please pray for me.

Journey in Queensland I

Salam :)

As what I've written in the previous post, I've safely arrived in Queensland on 7th of July.

Riding the AirAsiaX flight

The Flight
Landed at Coolangatta Airport, Gold Coast with a change of tudung and pants, and without a jacket because I threw up in the plane due to air-sickness. Luckily, I brought a spare tudung along in the plane, and the person beside me was very kind to give me her extra pants! (wuwu,, I'm touched.. sobs..) and a stewardess gave me a bottle of minyak kapak. She's quite concerned about me. bagus, a good service! Alhamdulillah when we landed, it was 8:23pm and the temperature was 15°c so I can stand the cold... ceh, padahal jalan laju-laju nak masuk airport cepat.
Kak Aliya picked me up shortly after I've arrived and we went straight to her house in Brisbane.

Oh yeah, why do I go here?

Background Story
Kak Aliya Azlan is my senior from high school. Oh yes, apparently, our first name is the same. koh koh. I come here to be her babysitter for around 2 months during this long break. I'll be back to Malaysia on 6th of September, insya-Allah, so I'll be spending the whole Ramadhan and Syawal (almost) in here!
Anyway, Kak Aliya has 2 sons: Layth (6 going on 7) and Thauban (almost 2). Since Layth went to school during weekdays and I have day-off during weekends, so I mostly babysit Thauban when Kak Aliya isn't home.

Thauban and Layth.
I really have no idea why did Layth pose like that
.

The Work
Babysitting and help with house chores, just like what girls usually do at home. So, I guess so far, everything went well insya-Allah. huhu. But Thauban reminded me of my nieces and nephews a lot! and Layth reminded me of Hanaa because they were born in the same year. oh I miss them. but I think when I got back, I will miss Thauban and Layth.. so, better play with them to the fullest!
but it's quite impossible for me to play with Thauban when Kak Aliya and her husband is home. He would not want me at all. haha.
Usually, every weekday morning, before kak Aliya sent Layth to school and go to work, I will take Thauban for a stroll around the neighbourhood. Although it's Ramadhan, I don't feel really exhausted because the air is just nice. My body warms up in the cold morning.
I don't play with Layth much, I guess, because, I don't know what should I play with him. Sometimes I just watch him constructing lego planes, train tracks, or listen to his informative speech about trains, planes and titanic. I can say that he's quite knowledgeable because he reads factual books a lot.

Ramadhan in here
This is a whole new experience for me because I'm fasting in winter and I'm actually experiencing winter! hahah. But of course, no snow in here. Average temperature, 11-21°c kot. (hentam)
In here, we fast for approximately 12 hours but it gets longer by a few minutes as the days pass. Daytime is shorter and night is longer. Thus, performing night prayers is quite relaxed. We can finish tawawih by 8p.m, and I will have plenty of time to do anything before bedtime. However, sahur is too early.

Only a few days left, better make the best out of these last days of Ramadhan, ey?

Kak Aliya and her husband held an iftar in their house once. There were a lot of food and everything was very delicious, alhamdulillah! We had BBQ and foods in the photo above. hehe.

Holiday?
Oh yeah, while I'm in here, of course I'm taking the opportunity to visit places in here. Usually I will go to different places with kak Aliya and her family during weekends. I've been to a few places already. I shall share them in a separate entry.

till then!
Salam :)

P/S: I'm still thinking what should I get as souvenirs for the people I love. what should I buy? am hoping that when it's time to go shopping for souvenirs and gifts, there'll be a lot of sales. ameen!

Ramadhan this year

Bismillah.
Salam :)

Alhamdulillah, Ramadhan this year, I got to spend the whole month in JB, with my family. Having the chance to taste Mama's cooking, breaking fast with my family, listening to Ramadhan tazkirah from Abah, is surely a bliss. *nangis terharu*

Ramadhan is leaving soon. I'm very grateful that Allah has given me another chance to experience Ramadhan this year. I think this year's Ramadhan is better than the previous year. Alhamdulillah. However, I still hope that I will be given the chance to experience Ramadhan again.

Tomorrow will be the last day for us to fast during Ramadhan this year. Therefore, let's do our best in fasting tomorrow. Make zikr a lot, make dua a lot, and try our best to be khusyu' in our prayers. May we end Ramadhan with the best deed, and may Allah bless us.

Dear all readers,
whether I know you or not, in which I think I know most of you,
from the bottom of my heart, I apologize for any wrongdoings I've done towards you. I'm sorry. and if you feel like I have mistakes that need to be corrected, please, tell me.
If you want me to meet/tell you personally to apologize, please do so.
Let's solve the things between us in this world, rather than solving it in the hereafter.
Let's forgive each other.
Let's end this Ramadhan with a clean heart.

May we celebrate eid with true happiness.

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.

"Oh Allah! You are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me."

That's all.
Wassalam :)

It's Ramadhan Again!

Bismillah.

Alhamdulillah, Allah has given us the chance to enjoy Ramadhan again. Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”
[Sahih Bukhari]

Let us fill this Ramadhan with lots and lots of ibadah, at least by remembering Him all the time. May our deeds will be accepted by Him, and may Allah bless us!

more OSM Ramadhan Tips here on facebook.

Here's a prayer that we can recite throughout this holy month;

-Baarikillahumma lanaa fii syahri Ramadhan-
"O Allah, bless us in the month of Ramadhan"

Happy Ramadhan!
Wassalam :)

Journey in Pre-TESL ; part 3

Bismillah.

Salam :)

Residential College:

As what I have wrote in the previous 'Journey in Pre-TESL' post, we have moved into the new college :) Alhamdulillah.
All went well during the process of moving stuffs and things during a hot sunny day in Ramadhan. Thanks to Allah for lending me some great strength during the process, alhamdulillah.
and also, credits to my cousin, kak Raihani for helping me moving my things and bringing me to Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah on that very same day :)

This was the view we usually get when going back from class to our residential college, after walking pass the Tun Fatimah Lake.
Tun Fatimah College. Farewell, dear.
But now, everything has changed. We cross the bridge through the Tun Fatimah Lake, walk at the side of Masjid Al-Hikmah, go straight further, walk pass the CTU and Lekir College on our left and water tank on our right, walk a few more steps, turn left and....... voila!

Tun Hasan College
The tree is still undergoing growing process. Good luck, tree.

A very apartment-like residential college. Alhamdulillah, I got a new room with a new roommate, Amirah. Two people share a room. It's comfy and cozy and, well, a lot better than before, I reckon.
Only that it's further to our class -__-" but insya-Allah we are going to survive the long journey until the end of this semester only, since on the next semester, we are going to get a new, nearer faculty :D

Ramadhan in Campus

It's,, great. There was a grand iftar held by UiTM last Saturday, a programme called 'Nur Ramadhan'. but, I didn't go to the programme because I went back home at JB. So, there's nothing to tell about this programme la kot.
Everyday, if no one wants to treat us :P , we will buy our own food for iftar at the bazaar. There were a lot of menus there and my favourite was Nasi Ayam Madu, RM3.50. *drools*
Better change the topic.
Our activity during the day, nothing's changed. All things went as usual.
The Self-Access Centre (SAC) at the ground level of the campus library is like our second 'home'. My classmates and I usually stay there to spend our time filling the long time gap between classes.

What are our activities there?
Read (nerd), do assignment (nerd), making notes (nerd), study (nerd. Nerd is great actually), read al-Quran (alhamdulillah), chat, go online, more chatting, taking nap, chat, discussing things, chat, play the 'Pergi ke bulan nak bawa apa' game.

ceceh

Oh oh, and last wednesday, 1B went to De' Muara Ikan Bakar at Kuala Sungai Baru for our iftar. It was fun. However, there were some slackness that spoiled our sweet moment, but we managed to enjoy ourselves anyway. Alhamdulillah. baik-baik classmates aku ;)
I wanna put the pictures but tak mampu nak bukak the folder of the pictures because there's a lot of pictures of food.................. astaghfirullah. puasa, puasa.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Alhamdulillah, now I'm back in Johor Bahru for the Raya Holiday! :D
oh, Ramadhan is coming to it's end :((
Better spend these last precious days baik-baik.
can't wait to go to nenek's house ;D

and I miss my friends.

wassalam.

Ramadhan Kareem

Bismillah. Azan maghrib sudah berkumandang. Menandakan Ramadhan telah tiba.

Salam Ramadhan buat keluarga, semua sahabat dan kenalan-kenalan lain.
*tengah sayu ni first time sambut awal Ramadhan jauh dari keluarga.

Ini doa awal Ramadhan yang Mak Cik Icah (ibu saudaraku) ada post di facebook;

maksudnya:

ameen, ameen, Ya Rabbal 'Alamin.

Jangan lupa niat puasa ya!
Selamat berpesta ibadah :D

solat dan tilawah time!
wassalam.

P/S: dah puasa, kena elakkan tengok the previous post. ohhh~
