Half-of-2015 Summary

Just to update what's been happening in my life because 2015 is almost half-over.

January 2015

Final exam for my 5th semester. 3rd year.

Now I'm in the 6th semester, or 2nd semester of my 3rd year. so, it's the time for my practicum.
So,

February-March 2015
Teaching practical in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A total of 30 Faculty of Education students were sent to Indonesia: 9 to Jogjakarta, 9 to Semarang and 12 to Makassar. In Makassar, 6 students sent to UNISMUH (including me) and another 6 sent to UNM.

The students were very warm towards us, the Malaysian practical teachers. Alhamdulillah :)
They like listening to our BM too.

Got to meet my relatives in South Sulawesi. This is the time where I got to know my relatives closer. Baru nak hafal nama satu-satu. Alhamdulillah all of them are very warm, kind and friendly.

Alhamdulillah got to go to many places in Makassar and even got to visit my late grandfather's hometown in Belawa, Wajo'. I sure had an amazing experience there.

Other than learning and getting many things there, I also got to know my FP-mates closer, especially those who were placed in UNISMUH like Dolly (my classmate), Santy and Saiful (both from Sports Science and they were my classmates for several classes), Kak Fiza (Kemahiran Hidup) and Kay (Electrics and Electronics). I guess if we didn't join this program, we won't know each other much. I also got to be closer to several lecturers like Cikgu Ali as the coordinator for this International Practical Programme, Dr Zainuddin Hassan as UTM's representative in UNISMUH and Dr Safarin as UTM's representative in UNM. They are all very friendly and helpful.

March-May 2015
HARMONI. It is a convention held by IKRAM Siswa. This is the first programme I joined after almost a month without liqa' usrah because of being outside Malaysia. It's a great a booster to motivate myself to get to the mode of a students' activist again. cewah. Alhamdulillah got to meet many friends and gained new inputs from this convention.

I seriously had so much fun during the 2 months and 2 weeks of practical in here. Despite doing daily lesson plans and having difficulty in classroom management and delivering the teaching, the teachers and students in there had given me a lot of strengths with their support and friendliness. My teaching supervisor (lecturer and guru pembimbing) gave me a lot of advices for improvement.

I think the best part in teaching is when I could remember all my students names, so I got to manage the class easier. How do I memorize their names? Everytime before I start the class, I'd point to each students while saying their names. Macam zikir. Lol. This is actually a technique introduced by my lecturer, Dr. Abdullah. Alhamdulillah the students listened to me well. They are also very friendly towards me. Best melayan karenah mereka. Oh, and one of my students is actually my classmate from SMIH's sister.

now I'm done with the teaching practical. and my 3 months of holiday has just started.

June 2015
One of my closest cousins got married. Nabilah is officially a puan now. Congratulations!

Alhamdulillah the ceremony went well and the weather was great. For Nabilah and her husband, Malik, Barakallahu lakuma wa baraka 'alaikuma, wa jama'a bainakuma fi khair :)

Ramadhan is coming. Yup, in just a few days! Let's make the best out of this ramadhan! May Allah accept and bless all our deeds.


What's next?
I have lots of plans coming. Some of them includes working, organisation meetings, gathering, reunions, etc. May Allah gives strengths to accomplish all those smoothly.

and, I'll be a final year student in September! Time flies so fast.

Journey in TESL VI : 3rd Sem

just done with finals. yeah! alhamdulillah.

my 3rd semester in UTM.
Long story short, I survived this semester. haha.

may next semester be better and keep getting better.

Journey in TESL V : Semester 2

Salam.

Although semester 2 of my 1st year has ended a month ago, I still want to write about it!

Nothing much happened, though.
Basically, the things I have gone through in this semester were the same things I had gone through on the 1st semester. Same class, same college, same co-q activity. The only things that are different are the subjects I took. Oh yeah, in this semester too, I joined the committee of Kelab Iqra' UTM. heee.

The subjects I took this semester are, still 8. They are Telecommunication and Networking, Educational Psychology, Structures of English, Literacy Appreciation, Effective Writing Skills, Dinamika Malaysia, English for Academic Communication and Japanese Language II. For co-curriculum activity, I took First Aid II. 2 semesters to go to finish the co-q! why so long...

Let's move on to what I've been through... I might miss some because I can't remember everything.

23/3/2013: HAKI (Hari Kelab Iqra')
The first kelab Iqra's event I joined. Alhamdulillah it was fun because I can get to know other students, especially Iqra's seniors. We played futsal and a few sukaneka activities.

28/3/2013: Teachers in Training from Tsukuba University
A few students from the Faculty of Education came to UTM for their teaching training. One of the students came teaching Japanese Language during our Japanese class.

20/4/2013: Programme for PRS of SMK Taman Desa Skudai
Most of my classmates and I organized a programme for PRS of the school. It's actually under the name of our faculty's club, Persatuan Mahasiswa Pendidikan, but all the committee members are our classmates.

The activities we prepared for them were moral, teamwork and leadership-based. We had fun getting to know the teachers (they are young and very friendly) and the PRSs too. Alhamdulillah all of them are PRS, so, they behaved well.

until June 2013: Tests, Drama performance, Final exam
For this semester's drama performance in Literacy Appreciation class, students in our class are divided into 3 groups. We performed Hamlet's play. My group did a parody of it.
Study went, just as usual.. huhuh. But I think I got lazier than last semester. but Alhamdulillah my friends and roommate are quite diligent, they motivated me to study. Thanks Epaa, Intan and Teno, my groupmates in almost every group assignment! and thanks Qila for visiting my room often, encouraging me to study together with you. hohoh. thanks to all classmates too. k tibe je credits.
Final exam went as usual too.

During semester 2, I'm trying to get myself balanced between my worldly needs and hereafter's needs. I really hope I can fulfill both, and succeed in both the world and the hereafter.

can't wait for the adventures in the next semester :)

Journey in TESL IV : Sight-seeing around UTM

Alhamdulillah, just now, my friends and I just had a great sight-seeing around UTM. We enjoyed our journey very much. I walked with Epaa, Teno, Intan, Aqilah, Yana, Ain and Syahirah. Here are the pictures from the beginning (somewhat) till the end of our journey.

What an experience. Ok, actually, we started our journey from Kolej Tun Razak (KTR) to Kolej Perdana (KP). Let me show you the image of our route.

Our route is the pink one. The blue one is the other route, but it's too berbukit-bukau.

 Yes, it was rather far. What a long journey we had. and the best part is, we walked! It was a good work out since we rarely go jogging. keh keh.

Why do we walk that far?
actually, we just sat for an exam at KTR. We went there by bus at 2.00pm. but when we wanted to go back to KP, there was no bus. We tried calling for delivery services, but everyone is busy. So, we decided to walk. It was around 4.15pm and the sun is shining, but alhamdulillah UTM has a lot of trees, so it was not that hot. Oh, our whole journey took place on around 45++ minutes (including buying cool blog at cengal and visiting the horses).

This is a new experience. hihi. Alhamdulillah for everything :D

Aaanyways, the paper we sat for just now is Introduction to Teaching.
including the that, we are done with 3 subjects! *yeay*
3 down, 4 more to go.

Journey in TESL III : Semester 1 is ending

Bismillah.

Salam and hi :)

Alhamdulillah, all classes for semester 1 has ended, all presentations are done, drama has been performed, all assignment has been submitted, and now we're 'enjoying' our study week. Exam is going to start soon.

My netbook crashed last week. Thank God it crashed last week (in the study week period) not during the critical time of finishing all assignments at the eleventh hour. *BIG sigh of relief.

and, alhamdulillah, Abah has helped fixing my netbook. Other hard disks aren't affected but the main local disk was affected. so, all files kept there are gone. and I'm glad I kept my notes and academic files on the other hard disk. *another BIG sigh of relief.

most lagha things in this netbook were cleared up during the fixing process. hoho. that's a good thing of having your netbook crashed. made you ponder of the 'content', especially when you're going to re-download things you've lost (esp. songs and videos)

Journey in TESL II : Japanese Visits & Debate

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.
Assalamualaikum wbt and hi :)

Alhamdulillah, last week, two Japanese High Schools has visited UTM and last weekend, there was NIEW Great Gender Debate. I wasn't the participant of the debate, just one of the committee members. Everything went good kot. Although things were a bit hectic but I gained a lot of experiences.

3/12/2012 : Taisei High School visits UTM
My friends and I volunteered to be the facilitators for this programme. The programme didn't take a long time, just from about 8.30am to 12.00pm. 4 classes from the high school participated in this visit. Oh, by the way, they are from Osaka, so they talk Japanese very fast with the dialect. Each facilitator will have three students to 'guide'. They were talkative. Thus, imagine how we communicate. Yes, we communicate with a lil bit of English (very little English), a bit broken Japanese and a lot of body languages. wuwu. We played batu seremban and the Japanese students enjoyed trying our traditional clothes.

The three students on chairs are the students I 'guide'. Yuuya, Hentaro and Shoichiro. 17 years old.
Behind them was their friend whom I don't know his name.
In front of them was either their senior or classmate. But I think it's their senior.
Behind me was Sarah, my classmate.

and, this is what they gave me. The golden coin was from Hentaro and the silver coin was from Shoichiro
The thing that was written on the fan is "Oi oi, warau nayo" or in malay, "Oi oi, senyum ler"
The thing with the red ball is named Kentama. A Japanese traditional game.
I gave them, badges of Upin & Ipin and a malay girl.

5/12/2012: Meisei High School visits UTM
A day before the visit, I practised and study Japanese a lot so that it'll be easier to communicate with the students. (the experience before had taught me a lesson. huhu). Oh, for this visit, we didn't volunteer but my Japanese Language sensei assigned my whole class to 'handle' this visit. We have to perform and have an interaction session with the students. Marks will be given. For this visit, only one class came, so we just have one student each. Thus, it's easier to communicate (thank God I studied Japanese the day before). They are from Miyagi.

Alhamdulillah the interaction session went smoothly. My 'friend' is Kaito, 16 years old. Masaki is Teno's friend and Kouhei is Intan's friend. They're both 17 years old. They are all classmates, and they're taking Computer Science.
What really surprised me was, they reaaaaaallly love cats! There are a lot of cats in UTM, yes. Whenever they see cats, they'll be like, "waa, neko-chan!" with excited expression. Kaito was especially excited. Then I remembered that Sensei once said, Japanese people really love cats. It's proven. Oh, and they are also amazed to see the big UTM Mosque.
I gave Kaito a UTM notebook and a postcard. When I gave him that, he opened his bag and stared what's inside, thinking of what should be given to me. koh koh. bagus betul la. orang tak mintak pun. he gave me this:

The raisin biscuits and a chocolate cookie were what he took out from his bag. Insya-Allah halal.
The orange thingy is a light stick. Of course, the light has gone out.
The thing that was hung on the plastic bamboo tree is a symbolic of the Star Festival.
Kaito also gave me the extra origami paper and the calligraphy pen. Those were prepared by the school.

After having lunch together and walked around the centre of UTM for a while, we bid our goodbyes.

I had a great day with them.
What I like about them is that they are very polite and respectful towards others (despite of their 'boyish' behaviour). Gotta educate the future generations like that.

6-9/12/2012 : NIEW Great Gender Debate 2012
The event was held in UTM this year. I joined the committee for 'Sekreteriat & Pertandingan' part. My job was simple: be the time keeper and watch the debate. It was British Parliamentary style, so the debate was longer than usual. Sometimes I got sleepy so I brought along my laptop and earphone. uhuk. During the whole event, I stayed in Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail (KTDI) in the Palapes' block, MA6. The block has no lift so imagine walking up to the 5th floor every day. but, walking is good.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures of any university's team. Plus, if I were to take photos during the debate session, the phone's camera sound will be too loud. I will just embarrassed myself by doing that.
During the debate, I met a lot of new friends, especially among the committee members. Also got to know a few people from UTeM, USM and UMS. Alhamdulillah for everything.
Oh, I missed 6 classes including co-q T_T *srott srott.

Journey in TESL I

Salam and hello everyone :)

During my foundation year, I've posted about my journey in pre-TESL. Now I'm taking degree in TESL, so, I think it's good if I share my journey here too (although this journey has started since 2 months ago and this semester almost come to an end. ;p). Let's get started!

As I've mentioned before, right now, I'm taking Bachelor of Science with Education (TESL) in UTM Skudai, Johor. Uuu, I am an undergraduate student seyyh. Pre-service teacher seyyhh..

Insya-Allah, we'll have 6 semesters (4 years) in here. For this semester, the subjects we study are Fundamentals of Grammar, Introduction to Literature, Japanese Language I, Educational Philosophy, Introduction to Teaching Profession, Teaching & Learning Technology, Computer System and Multimedia and Islamic & Asian Civilisation (TITAS). As for the co-curriculum, I'm taking First Aid I.

In these 2 almost 3 months, I've gone through a lot of programmes and things.

21-23/9/2012 : FYE (First-Year Experience)
it's our faculty orientation. Faculty of Education's.
We had it at Teluk Gorek, Mersing. Very nice place :)

Mid-October : Festival Konvokesyen UTM (FESKO '12)
A festival held in conjunction with the convocation. Lepak at First Aid's booth for a session. Joined Aqsa Syarif's flashmob.

This was another I enjoyed apart from the sales.

22/11/2012 : TESL Night 2012
Organized by 2nd year students, celebrating final year students.
Held at Grand Paragon Hotel, JB.
The food was superb! Alhamdulillah. Worth the money, I guess.

Today, 24/11/2012 - Malakoff
Eco run. It has lots of sports competition. Cycling, Marathon, Sukaneka, etc.
Was in the UTM Health Centre's booth with friends (since we're taking First Aid). Did some basic medical check-up on people and ourselves. Also played congkak for fun. Went back to college with ambulance.

You can tell how excited we were riding the ambulance. It is a rare opportunity.
(maybe should be grateful that it's a rare opportunity for me)

Always present : Study
Assignments can't be separated from us. Study is our fight. Some subjects are challenging as they require deep understanding and a lot of reading. Awowowo. But I shall not give up as this is the choice I've made in the past.　ずっと　いきて！ان الله معنا

Another start of something new.

Bismillah.

Insya-Allah, I am officially a UTM undergraduate student. Alhamdulillah :D
The orientation week (known as MTM) has ended, alhamdulillah.
I got to stay in Kolej Perdana, alhamdulillah.
The wifi in Faculty of Education is good, alhamdulillah.
Alhamdulillah for everything.

Jakun locker dia besar dan banyak ruang.

I got a new roommate, Effa. She is from Kelantan and is very nice :)
Two of my girl friends from my foundation year are also studying TESL here; Teno and Sarah :)
Our rooms are in the 8th floor. Luckily there's two lifts but only one is functioning. Hopefully it will function soon.
The scenery we can see from our window is beautiful, subhanallah.
Our residential college is just beside a forest and is kind of higher than other buildings, so it is cold in the morning. I can even see the fogs. The air is so fresh, alhamdulillah. Hopefully the environment will be good for our study.

In Faculty of Education in UTM, TESL students of our batch consist of only 19 students, with 16 females and 3 males. All 16 females live in the same block and level, so I think it will be easy for us to do work together.
Hopefully, in this four years, we will be close. Very close.
Have I ever mentioned that this will be my first time studying with multi-racial and religion friends? Yeah, there are Malay, Chinese and Melanau girls. Jakun jom.

Our subjects/courses for undergraduate study is just about the same as in our foundation, only we will learn deeper in each subjects, as usual. For our first semester, we will take 9 courses. Oh, and as you can see above, our programme's name is Bachelor of Science with Education (TESL). The 'Science' is our minor and specifically, the Science field we're going to study is Multimedia. The credit hour for Multimedia-related subject is kinda big, so I think we really have to score that. We will also study Japanese (yeay!) as a third language. And in our 2nd sem of the 3rd year, we will have our practical. Gulp.

Hm. I am excited to start this new journey and am feeling very nervous in the same time.
Hopefully this journey will be a lot more better than before.
Hopefully I will always make my goal clear to strive in this journey.
Hopefully I will be strong to endure all challenges and hardship ahead. Aliya K = Aliya Kuat.
Hopefully, everything will turn out well.

Most of my friends had registered to universities for their undergraduate programmes too. May Allah guide them and always lend them strength to strive in their life.

My friends are all over Malaysia and the world now. UTM, UM, UPM, UiTM, UNIMAS, USM, UniSZA, UIA, UMS, UKM, etc. Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, etc.

Journey in Pre-TESL: Officially Ends. Credits rolling.

Salam.

I have been wanting to update about this since a long long time ago. Since our final exam result came out actually, last 27th of April.

Alhamdulillah, my result was quite ok la. Although my GPA for this semester was a bit lower than the previous one, but when I see the CGPA, it is still ok. My 1st sem's GPA backs up a lot. hoho.

1st sem: 3.67 | 2nd sem: 3.54 | CGPA Foundation: 3.60

Still, alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal :)

Now, my journey in Pre-TESL has officially ended. After this, I won't have to log on to the istudent portal anymore. I thank UiTM so much for accepting me as their Foundation student. I can still remember my interviewers' faces, you know. Their expressions while interviewing me. Hoho. Ok, forget about that.

I thank Allah so much for giving me the opportunity to have this journey, in the course I have chosen to take. I have lots of new experiences and made lots of great friends.
